It was 102.7 VGS' first birthday anniversary on Wednesday, June 28!
It was a day filled with celebration, amazing music and memories. One year ago, 102.7 VGS became a full-fledged radio station, and it's been quite the adventure.
To celebrate our first birthday, Shinedown came and performed for over 102 of our listeners (we chose this number as a homage to our frequency). Their acoustic set filled the room, and people were captivated by the sheer talent of the band. Brent Smith's powerful voice vibrated throughout the entire venue. Throughout the performance, you could see people mouthing the words of their lyrics and singing alongside the intimate performance that the band gave.
Who knew that our four misfits -- Aimee, Shawn, Cameron and Sammi -- would be the perfect combination of spunk, sass and entertainment to sprinkle tidbits of joy throughout your day. Before we go into the waterworks, we want to thank YOU, our listeners, for coming on this past year's ride. Without you, this truly wouldn't have work. We appreciate each and every one of you, who spend even a minute listening to our little radio station.
We'll never forget the day we started. Everyone in the office was crowded around different sections of the building, listening to the sound effects of machines and power tools play on the radio. All of the sudden, the classic "102.7 VGS" liner played, and as the applause overtook the building, we knew that it was only the start of the journey.
Since that day one year ago, Aimee+Shawn have created segments that hopefully became a comforting fixture in your everyday commute. We also hope that Cameron's voice can be a delightful treat that accompanies you during your day. And we can't forget Sammi Reeves, who's energy and positivity adds a little sparkle to your drive after work.
