In honor of November 15th being the legendary Chad Kroeger's birthday, let's discuss one of the most controversial topics among music: Nickelback.
It's no secret that Nickelback is one of the most (if not the most) maligned bands of all time. They've been called "the black eye of Canadian music" and been dismissed as "crunchy granola meathead rock." But they're also one of the most successful groups of all time... So why all the hate?!
The Canadian rock band is comprised of Chad Kroeger (lead vocalist and guitarist), Mike Kroeger (bassist), Ryan Peake (guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist), and Daniel Adair (the group's current drummer). According to MetalHeadsCommunity.com, "the group finds it hard to believe that despite having a career that expands more than 25 years, there has always been negativity towards the band from the beginning to the present day."
It seems that as the group evolved into a more commercial identity, the absurd amount of hate started to grow... and kind of become an absurd trend. It became popular to throw shade at the group simply because they were evolving... as all humans and artists do. Lame.
However, the trend has not deterred the massive success they've achieved with their tracks. Because good music is good music, folks. It's food for the soul. And Nickelback, for millions of music listeners, is like a nice homecooked meal. We can't get enough.
Amidst all the negativity, one thing remains true: Nickelback is responsible for some pretty great songs. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that they're one of the best pop-rock bands of the past 20 years. And don't even get me started on Chad Kroeger and that incredible voice of his. One word. Heavenly.
So haters. Put on your scuba gear. Because we're about to take a deep dive into the 5 best Nickelback songs of all time.
5) "Photograph"
This 2005 single was a return to form for the band after the disappointing response to their previous album, The Long Road. It's a rousing, radio-friendly track with a great guitar riff and another huge chorus. Plus, watching Chad Kroeger absolutely slay in the music video will give you chills.
4) "Animals"
The lead single from Nickelback's Dark Horse album, "Animals" is another fist-pumping, roof-raising rock song. It also includes one of Kroeger's most quotable lines: "We're all just animals / But some of us are more like bears / Others are more like eagles." Preach, brother!
3) "Far Away"
This 2006 ballad finds Kroeger at his most vulnerable, singing about being away from someone he loves for an extended period of time. It's a departure from the band's usual fare, but it works perfectly. The song has an emotional punch that will leave you reaching for the tissue box every time you hear it. I know I do. Sniffle sniffle.
2) "Rockstar"
With its glamorous depiction of the life of a rock star, this tune might be the furthest thing from reality ever put to song. But that doesn't make it any less fun to sing along to at the top of your lungs whilst driving. We all need a little escapism now and then, right?
1) "How You Remind Me"
This is Nickelback's signature song, and for good reason. The rock anthem goes extremely hard with a catchy chorus and a huge singalong factor. Plus, it introduced the world to Chad Kroeger's now-trademark growly vocals.

Your ‘Theme Song’ Based On Your Zodiac Sign
Music plays such an important roll in our everyday lives. The emotions it can evoke, the inspiration it can provide... Music holds so much power, and its ability to tell a story, especially in movies and tv shows, is undeniable and remarkable.
The perfect theme song for a big-time, box office thriller, a successful sit-com, or a chaotic reality tv show has the ability to connect the viewer to the characters and the story in a deep and meaningful way, even when the theme song itself might not have a "deep and meaningful" sound to it. It's all about the characters and story it's representing!
I think we've all thought at one point or another that our lives belonged on the big screen... But what would your theme song be? What would the soundtrack to your life sound like? Would it be upbeat and bouncy? Would it be a slow, meaningful ballad? Would it be solely instrumental or have catchy, sing-along lyrics?
BestLife has shared the anthem of each zodiac sign's life following an interview with NYC-based astrologer, Lisa Stardust "to find the track worthy of being our personal anthems." She shared her opinions based on her knowledge of each of the sign's characteristics and traits, and I'm both impressed and obsessed with the results.
While numerous songs could certainly represent each of the zodiac signs and every individual rocks their own unique personality, these picks most definitely encompass the vibes of each sign as a whole. And not to mention, every single one of these songs are an absolute banger. The full zodiac soundtrack leaves no crumbs behind. You can catch me listening to all of these on the daily!
So what are you waiting for?
Scroll to see which tune serves as the theme song of your life based on your zodiac sign:
Aries - "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion
This upbeat track oozes confident, ambitious vibes, just like Aires. "Savage" is one of the best hype songs out there for every savage, and it most certainly serves as the ultimate theme song for Aires.
Taurus - "No Scrubs" by TLC
As a Taurus myself, I can confirm that our sign does not trust easily. At all. That said, once you've gained our trust, we're actually very loyal and dependable, but we don't put up with junk. "No Scrubs" is the perfect anthem for every Taurus unwilling to compromise on their boundaries.
Gemini - "Wannabe" by Spice Girls
One of the most social and loyal signs out there, Gemini considers friendship to be one of the most important things in life. Unstoppable with the right people in their circle, "Wannabe" is the perfect track to empower the Gemini and remind them of what's important to them.
Cancer - "That's What I Like" by Bruno Mars
Sensitive and caring, Cancer will sometimes put others first when they need to be focusing on themselves. "That's What I Like" is the Cancer's theme song, melodically reminding them that it's alright to put themselves first sometimes and empower them to speak up and speak their minds.
Leo - "Big Energy" by Latto
With a poppin' personality, the Leo attracts all eyes. " Big Energy" is the perfect anthem for the sign that stands out among the crowd and also serves as a reminder that having a big personality isn't a bad thing.
Virgo - "Truth Hurts" by Lizzo
Virgo is highly observant, sensible, and powerful. "Truth Hurts" reminds Virgos that their opinions matter, even if they go against the grain, as well as keep them grounded in their power.
Libra - "I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys
Libra is pretty indecisive and generally indirect. "I Want It That Way" is the theme song of a libra's life and the perfect daily reminder to be direct when you want and need to be.
Scorpio - "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield
Deeply motivated by their intuition and feelings, the Scorpio adapts well in any situation. "Unwritten" is a great reminder that even with unknowns or dark days ahead, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Sagittarius - "Soak Up The Sun" by Sheryl Crow
Sagittarius are all about having fun and living in the moment, so what bop is more perfect than "Soak Up The Sun?" Perfect Sagittarius vibes!
Capricorn - "Motivation" by Normani
Capricorns are no strangers to hard work and hustlin'. "Motivation" describes the life of these focused, driven individuals!
Aquarius - "Unique" by Beyoncé
The Aquarius is an out-of-the-box thinker. This is a quality they should remember to embrace about themselves, because the world needs "Unique" minds like theirs!
Pisces - "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac
Pisces garner a very natural connection within creativity. "Dreams" is the perfect life anthem to encourage you to embrace your feelings and introverted tendencies.
