Quinta Brunson attends the 74th Primetime Emmys at Microsoft Theater on September 12, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

The 2022 Emmy Awards were last night. Hosted by Keenan Thompson who did a great job, there were a lot of standing ovations, records were broken, and high highs for some amazing actors, actresses, and shows and also a couple of lows.

Jimmy Kimmel has been facing a lot of backlashes since he and Will Arnet presented the award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. Arnet dragged Kimmel out on stage and said he had had too many margaritas backstage. Once he announced the winner Arnet stepped aside but Kimmel continued the bit and lay on the stage for the entirety of Quinta Brunson’s acceptance speech.

Quinta Brunson had to give her entire speech with Jimmy Kimmel at her feet and in her shot. When asked backstage she told reporters “I think in that moment, I was just really happy that it was Jimmy up there … I don’t know, tomorrow maybe I’ll be mad at him. I’m gonna be on his show on Wednesday, so I might punch him in the face. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.” Looks like Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel show may be awkward.

In positive news, Zendaya is the first Black woman to win the Emmy for lead actress in a drama series twice, and the youngest two-time winner of any Emmy in history! She won for her role in Euphoria on HBO which is dark but phenomenal!

Lizzo won an Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program and shed a few tears on stage.

Some surprise presenters took the stage. Pete Davidson was there for his first public appearance since his split with Kim Kardashian. Oprah was there to present the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie.
