Justin Bieber took to Instagram with a video, on June 10, to share that he has Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (RHS).
According to MayoClinic.org, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome “occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.” Some side affects of RHS is facial paralysis which is a fancy word for weakness and hearing loss.
The clinic notes that this virus is the same one that causes chicken pox. The ear may become affected with blisters and a sensitive red rash. People with this syndrome may experience, ear pain, difficulty closing one eye, tinnitus, vertigo and more.
Bieber‘s right side of his face is being affected from this virus. He cannot blink his right eye, move his right nostril, fully smile and that side of his face looks very tense. The Instagram video shows Justin pointing to the right side of his face as he says, “There is full paralysis on this side of my face.” Justin did state in the video that he is doing facial exercises to get his face back to normal. You can read more about Ramsay Hunt Syndrome here. Unfortunately, that means he will be rescheduling some upcoming tour dates. In 2021, Justin had to delay his Justice World Tour dates due to his team getting COVID-19. His Las Vegas show has been postponed four times already. Fans await an email from AXS or TMobileArena.com if the Las Vegas show will be rescheduled for a fifth time. The previous dates of rescheduling included:
- Tuesday, June 2, 2020
- Friday, June 4, 2021
- Sunday, February 20, 2022
- Tuesday, June 28, 2022
Justin says, “For those who are frustrated by my cancelations of the next shows, I’m just physically obviously not capable of doing them.” Justin wishes this wasn’t the case but his body is telling him that he needs to slow down. He is going to use this downtime to rest and relax and “get back to 100 percent.” We are wishing Justin a speedy recovery and can’t wait for him to get back to performing on the Justice World Tour.
“I love you guys, thank you for being patient with me.” says Justin near the of the video. See the FULL video below.
