I was so scared to become a wife and mom because cooking wasn't my thing. It just seemed so intimidating to me. And up until the past couple of years, I stuck to easy recipes, things that I knew by heart I never wanted to step out of my box. I worked at night so I only had to cook 2 nights a week so I didn't have the time to really practice.

I started stepping out a little here and there until the pandemic, that was when I cooked a lot because there wasn't much else to do and it became a hobby. If it tasted great, awesome. If it didn't then I changed things up or just never made it again.

Cooking became fun!

For some things, I still have to use recipes to a 'T' but for others, I just throw things together and they become staples in our house. I have to be honest though... Tik Tok has definitely been a huge reason I play around in the kitchen. Who doesn't love a 1-minute video on how to prepare an entire thanksgiving dinner?  It's mostly all that is in my algorithm, recipes, and a couple of workout videos for good measure.

Last night I was going to make tacos for 'Taco Tuesday" but before I started cooking I scrolled upon a woman making a spaghetti dinner that just looked too good to pass up. So we did something crazy and had spaghetti on Taco Tuesday.

ingredients:

  • 1lb ground turkey (it's just what I use you can use whichever meat you like)
  • 1 1/2 Jars of spaghetti sauce (I use prego)
  • 1 box of spaghetti noodles
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese (I definitely used a lot more bc... CHEESE)
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • Italian seasoning
  • salt & pepper

Set oven to 350.

Brown your meat of choice. Season it how you choose. I used garlic powder, onion powder, & Italian seasoning

Las Vegas PRIDE Parade, Celebrating Love In Our Community

This past weekend, 102.7 VGS celebrated Las Vegas PRIDE's official parade.

The celebration took place in downtown Las Vegas where parade floats, icons, queens and supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community came together to celebrate the mission of PRIDE.

It was a pure festival that year after year works to promote the equity and equality for those in the LGBTQIA community.

Shawn Tempesta and Sammi Reeves manned the VGS car, and passed out a plethora of fun items for attendees.

Along the streets of downtown Las Vegas, people waved flags that represented different sexual orientations, supported different communities and more. It was simply a joyous occasion, making Fremont shine ever brighter with burst of electric colors flowing down the streets.

We loved meeting our listeners. And trust us, when YMCA came on, Shawn Tempesta needed to have his moment, which prompted him to jump on the back of our "Jammin' 105.7 music" truck and dance the whole routine.

Sammi was our parade princess, who passed out even more PRIDE flags and little prizes.

This parade is the only night parade in the country. The rainbow lights and ribbons glittered across the night sky as the parade proceeded down the streets.

Different organizations, companies, local groups and more were part of the parade. A few groups also won prizes from the parade. The grand diva of the night parade and "best float" was The Phoenix Bar & Lounge, a local LGBTQ bar on Sahara Ave. The award for best-decorated float when to Area 15. Delta won the Rainbow Award, and MGM Resorts International won the diversity award.

This year's PRIDE parade was one for the books and brought together our community of Las Vegas in a loving, humbling and positive way. Thank you for everyone who attended, and we hope to see you next week!
