Study Finds Nevada Is Most-Obsessed With Video Games

Walk into the Luxor and you're bound to walk past a cathedral to video gaming. The Hyper-X Arena is 30,000 square feet of video gaming insanity. Well it turns out Nevada is not only home to an amazing gaming venue, but to people obsessed with video games. I'm-A-Puzzle conducted the survey to determine which state took video game obsession seriously. They took a look at over 1000 gaming related terms like "ps5," "steam," "fortnite," and others. Nevada took the top spot when adjusted per capita, with over 7,658 searches per month per 100k in the state. Georgia took 2nd place, New York 3rd, and our neighbors to the northeast Utah in 4th. While the "9th Island" was number 1, Hawaii itself ranked dead last in their video game obsession... and by a lot. Hawaii had only 4,889 average monthly search volume per 100k, with Montana taking 49th place with several hundred more searches. Chances are when you live in a place as beautiful as Hawaii, virtual reality doesn't hit as hard. Video Games in Nevada and America are no game... it's big business Sure the games may be fun, but the business behind those games is massive. The latest numbers showed the global video game market generating over $184 billion in revenue. While that might seem like a lot, it cooled off from the pandemic years which were absolutely on fire. People bored at home, "social distancing" and grabbing a remote control. Video game production has budgets that tower over even Hollywood. Cyberpunk 2077 cost developers over $331 million (in today's dollars) to develop and market. It was released in 2020. Even with all that money, the game was rife with issues which caused huge headaches and hurt sales. Still, the game grossed over $600 million by the end of 2020. Not bad for "just a game," eh?!
