Nicole Kidman has been doing interviews for her new movie Being the Ricardos, in which she plays the iconic Lucille Ball and told The New York Post that her husband Keith Urban thought her "Lucy" voice was "scary."

Nicole had to master Ball’s unique, smoky-but-silly voice, which she says she tested out on Keith. She recalled, “Vocally, I started with the Lucy voice, and it was so far out of reach that it was terrifying. I was, like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ And I’d do it for my husband, who has a great ear, 'cause he’s a musician, and he’d be, like, ‘Hmmmm.’ Kinda scary.”

Kidman also said of preparing for the role referencing to the classic 1956 I Love Lucy episode “Lucy’s Italian Movie,” “I started with the grape stomping. And that was my way into her, and I loved doing it. I loved doing the clown work and all of that.”

“Being the Ricardos” will be in theaters on December 10 and on Amazon Prime Video on December 21, 2021.
