Last night (December 7) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon debuted a new holiday video with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion, "It Was A... (Masked Christmas)."

Explaining what inspired his song, Fallon said, "It's basically about how last year was just rough on everybody -- and it's gonna get better. It really is going to get better, trust me. And how could portray that and also think of what funny things happened while we were in lockdown. You know, putting Purell on everything, or going on a Zoom, Zooming your grandpa, grandma, and seeing where the Wi-Fi works best."

Producers wanted Ariana Grande to do the song with him, and given their friendship since Late Night With Jimmy Fallon he thought, "Why not? Let's just go out there and see if she wants to do it." After not hearing back and knowing she's fine, "I see her on The Voice, she's fine," Jimmy said. "I get a text from Ariana: 'Jimmy, I love the song. I'm in.'"

Fallon originally did the rap on the demo, but Grande suggested inviting Megan to join in; happily, she was immediately on board. She said,  "I could do a song with my besties Ariana and Jimmy? I'm in, when do we shoot the video?"
