Lady Gaga won't have to pay out the $500,000 reward that she promised for her French bulldogs’ safe return in 2021 when they were dognapped. Per CNN, a Los Angeles County Judge ruled Monday (October 2) that Jennifer McBride, one of the suspects in the incident, had “unclean hands.” As a result, she was “not entitled” to the reward money.

As we previously reported, Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was wounded by four shots to the chest when he resisted two men trying to take the dogs (Gaga’s beloved dogs Koji, Miss Asia and Gustavo). Fischer survived the attack and the two dogs, Koji and Gustavo, were later safely recovered. Fischer had been caring for the three dogs while Gaga was in Italy working on a new movie. The woman who “found” the dogs was arrested with the four others, as cops were suspicious of her being involved in the dognapping, and they advised Gaga not to pay the $500,000 reward.

“Although Plaintiff alleges that her motivation was to protect the bulldogs (and also collect $500,000.00), this alleged motivation does not negate her guilt of the charge because she has admitted receiving the bulldogs with knowledge that they were stolen property,” the ruling states. After formally being charged in the dognapping case, McBride filed a lawsuit in 2022 against Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, claiming the singer breached a contract stating the reward money would be awarded “no questions asked” about the return of her dogs. Fraud by false promises and fraud by misrepresentation were also listed in the lawsuit as the basis for damages.

According to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, McBride is currently on probation for two years after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property of more than $950. She was initially charged with one count of accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property, but the accessory after the fact charge was dismissed contemporaneously as part of a plea deal.

These Celebrities Identify As Bisexual

Bisexuality is a term used to describe a person who has the potential to be physically, romantically, and/or emotionally attracted to people of more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, in the same way, or to the same degree. Per GLAAD, the "bi" in bisexual refers to genders the same as and different from one’s own gender. This doesn't mean just men and women.

Despite comprising more than half of the lesbian, gay, and bisexual community, bisexual people tend to feel misunderstood and isolated because of the hyper-sexualization in media. In addition to that, people cast bisexuality as a phase, or something that people do to draw attention, or to cover-up being gay or lesbian. The Los Angeles Times reported that bisexual people "avoided coming out because they didn’t want to deal with misconceptions that bisexuals were indecisive or incapable of monogamy — stereotypes that exist among straights, gays, and lesbians alike." Multiple research studies have shown that people who are bisexual are more likely to binge drink, engage in self-harm, and have suicidal thoughts than gay, lesbian, or straight people.

Bi-erasure and Bicurious

According to GLAAD, there is a term called "bi-erasure," which is "a pervasive problem in which the existence or legitimacy of bisexuality (either in general or in regard to an individual) is questioned or denied outright." Being bisexual doesn't mean they must have had any sexual experience in order to identify as such. Some people use the words bisexual and bi to describe the community, with others may use bi+, which is intended to be inclusive of those who call themselves bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and other words that describe people who have the potential to be attracted to more than one gender. Those who are exploring whether or not they are attracted to people of the same gender or of other genders might use the term "bicurious."
