In just over a decade, Ed Sheeran has become one of the biggest pop stars in the world, writing songs for himself and dozens of other artists. He’s won four Grammy Awards and has worked with everyone from Justin Bieber to Taylor Swift.

Ed Sheeran had always known that music was his passion, starting off by playing the guitar while still in school. He managed to get some experience gigging around pubs and clubs in London, before finally taking a leap of faith and moving to Los Angeles in 2009. It was there that he truly began his career as a songwriter, co-writing and collaborating with various artists. He actually slept on Jamie Fox’s couch for some time when he first moved to LA before making a name for himself.

It didn’t take long before we knew his name

In 2011, Sheeran released his debut album + (Plus), which featured several popular singles like “The A Team” and “Lego House”—both becoming top 10 hits in countries around the world. His success continued with the release of x (Multiply) in 2014—which featured chart-topping singles like “Sing” and “Thinking Out Loud”—and ÷ (Divide) in 2017—which included massive hits like “Shape of You” and “Perfect”. It was here that Sheeran reached unprecedented levels of success; selling out arenas across the globe on his tour for ÷ (Divide).

As well as writing hit songs for himself, Sheeran has also worked on many collaborations with other artists; including Justin Bieber, James Blunt, The Weeknd, Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, One Direction, and Taylor Swift. All of these collaborations have helped him become an even bigger star than he already is!
