102.7 VGS and our listeners experienced magic with Dean Lewis, who graced Mandalay Bay’s Foundation Room with his lovely vocals on Wednesday afternoon.
The intimate concert was the perfect middle-of-the-day treat. Listeners came on down to the Foundation Room and were able to hear an acoustic set of Lewis’ hit songs like “Be Alright,” and “How Do I Say Goodbye.” But, Lewis also performed his new song “Trust Me Mate,” which captivated the audience.
The ornate walls and ambience of the Foundation Room provided a perfect synergy with Lewis’ vocals and the eager energy from the crowd.
Lewis gained popularity after the story of “How Do I Say Goodbye,” touched the hearts of many people. In September 2022, Lewis uploaded a video on TikTok that captured his father’s reaction to listening the song.
Lewis wrote the song “How Do I Say Goodbye,” after he found out his father had cancer. The lyrics resonate feelings of grief, loss. But, also triumph. The TikTok video that gained virality captured Lewis’ father tearing up after hearing the lyrics of the song.
The video currently has 8.5 million likes with a flood of comments that spill the inner battles, tragedy and real stories of people from across the world. Many people commented an anecdote about their lost loved ones from cancer, happy stories and — of course — many people said how powerful the lyrics were.
