Kim Kardashian West Is Keeping Her Last Name, Unlike Kanye

Kim Kardashian West is saying nay to Ye, as she is not following Kanye West's lead in changing her name, following his filing to legally change his.

Sources close to the former couple told gossip website TMZ that Kim, 40, is keeping West in her name. As we reported yesterday (August 25), Kanye has begun filing the legal paperwork to have his name legally changed from Kanye to “Ye.”

According to court filings, Kanye Omari West will be legally changed to simply, “Ye.” Kanye is planning on getting rid of his entire name, including “West.” The rapper has always been very proud of his surname and often refers to himself in his songs as “Mr. West.” Amid divorce filings, estranged wife Kim kept her “West” surname and plans to keep it, along with their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

Though Kim isn't changing her name, she fully supports Kanye's desire to go by "Ye," believing that people will still recognize him as Kanye West, even after his name's been changed.

In the state of California, the judge will most likely approve Kanye's filing, as name change filings are only denied if there is evidence that the name change is due to criminal activity such as fraud.
