Happy July 4th weekend Las Vegas!

I believe we put on the most beautiful fireworks every single year. The strip, Stations Casinos.. they always do a great job. Fireworks are beautiful and so much fun but they can be scary as well. So try to stay safe this weekend!

When my son Jayden was about seven years old we were watching the Red Rock Casino firework show from an open space in the desert, as so many people do. People around us were setting their own fireworks off. Some legal some obviously not legal, and one was shot off incorrectly and shot under a truck and a car and burned Jayden's leg. It was the scariest moment I have had as a mom because it all happened so fast. I felt so helpless. He was in a lot of pain and you could tell he was burnt pretty badly. Luckily a friend of ours there is an RN and took great care of him with supplies she just had in her car. Thank God. But it just goes to show how quickly something can go wrong with these things when they are not used properly or when the illegal ones are used at all.

Make sure when you are out enjoying the beautiful fireworks this weekend do it safely.

Safety Tips:

  • ALWAYS use legal fireworks - buy only fireworks that are approved by your state!
  • Keep water close - keep a bucket close or have a hose handy to put anything out if need be.
  • Keep a distance between you and the fireworks - keep everyone back, one person lights and steps back immediately.
  • Always use fireworks outside - sounds dumb but people have done it.
