It’s National Mojito Day – But Don’t Order One
I was a bartender for many years here in Las Vegas. I worked in the service industry from the age of 16 till 29 and it was so much fun but also there are things about it, like any job, that you just can’t stand. I hate when it’s a national (blank) day. One of these dreaded days is today – National Mojito Day
It sounds like a first-world problem but when you have a line at the bar and a ton of tickets from the restaurant the last thing you want to make is a mojito. Let me add by saying that I make an amazing mojito but it takes some time. You are more than welcome to try it at home with my recipe but don’t do it to the bartenders today.
Aimee’s Classic Mojito
1 1/2 oz of choice of rum – I use Bacardi
2 wedges of lime
a handful of fresh mint leaves
2 tsp simple syrup (sugar water)
3/4 oz of club soda
garnish with a lime wheel
____________________________
Put lime wedges, mint, and simple syrup in a glass shaker and muddle together well, add rum & shake. Pour into a glass, add ice and the club soda, add the lime wheel to the rim of the glass and enjoy!
I love me a good mojito but will only have one at home when I have to torture myself. That goes right up there with old-fashioned, bloody marys, Irish car bombs, any blended drinks, or layered shots. Sounds crazy but I’m just trying to be of service to you to make your bartender happy so they can make you and everyone else happy! Take it from me… order a beer or a glass of wine 🙂
