Jimmy Kimmel Hops Into Nevada Senate Race With Twitter Endorsement

Jimmy Kimmel hasn't been known as someone who is shy about holding a political stance.  The Clark High School alum has thrown his hat in the political ring again. This time with a non-endorsement of U.S. Senate candidate Republican Adam Laxalt, and an endorsement of Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.

The decision to get political with his comedy is a measured one. The former The Man Show host took a clear position on former President Donald Trump that, he admits, lost him a good chunk of his fan base. Ratings dropped, his introduction video at Vegas Golden Knights games were getting booed and ABC executives suggested he tone it down. But he said he'd rather quit than do that. He recently signed a new deal that will keep him on ABC for an additional 3 years.

About the ratings...

To his credit, his show Jimmy Kimmel Live has been in a horse race for the top of the broadcast ratings as of late, leading with political jabs alongside The Late Show With Stephen Colbert who does the same. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has taken a mostly hands-off approach and while you would think that'd help his case, it hasn't.

But surprisingly, the actual winner on all of late night television isn't Kimmel, Colbert or Fallon. Believe it or not it is Greg Gutfeld, host of the Fox News Channel show Gutfeld! which takes a comedic angle from the other side of the aisle.

In the spot, Kimmel references an article from The Nevada Independent that was signed by 14 family members of Laxalt endorsing Cortez Masto. 22 others in his family then sent an opposing letter endorsing Laxalt. If you thought the holidays were awkward for your family, woof!

This is the first flat out endorsement spot we've seen Kimmel make and it's a clear line in the sand for the comedian.

Some people say "keep politics out of it," but they've been a mainstay of late night comedy for decades, and the top 3 late night shows today are all very much leaning in.

Here’s What You Missed On Aimee+Shawn This Week

It was a spooky start to the week with Aimee+Shawn! Halloween was on Monday and we got a chance to welcome the incredible Mystic Mona! She joined the two to take calls from listeners who want a look into their future.

Aimee was really pumped to start the week as she scored a rare "stup" victory against her husband. While Aim is known for occasionally saying something silly, this time it was her husband who goofed. It felt great being on the other side.

Unfortunately she didn't score a victory against Shawn's kids in football picks, which means the football betting queen is currently losing to a 5 and 4 year old. We'll see if her picks this week are any better.

The day after Halloween, we talked about what we saw on the big day. Shawn witnessed a kid steal bowls of candy while his mother looked on, meanwhile Aimee kept her oldest in the house and out of the trouble his friends were potentially going to get into. Speaking of trouble... how much working out does it take to burn off one measly Reese's cup? Is it worth it?!

There's some drama in the Disney camp as a guy is accusing the makers of Frozen 2 of jacking one of his songs. Do they sound anything alike? We discuss.

Shawn lost his mind going to Allegiant Stadium to see Elton John. The traffic made his eye twitch and he almost picked a fight with an officer doing traffic control. Aimee, as she often will, rolled her eyes at his rage.

Then we look in the mirror and realize... we are not letting our kids be what we were. The risks we took, no helmets, staying out late... How are we raising our kids different than we were raised?

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:’ The Hottest Looks From The Premiere

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had its world premiere last night (October 26) at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and the only thing hotter than the reviews beginning to pour in is the purple carpet looks. New parents Rihanna and A$AP Rocky looked stunning in coordinated outfits, while cast members Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong’o rocked jewel tones for the Wakandan royalty event.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

The long-awaited follow-up to Black Panther has been delayed by the pandemic and the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman (who played T’Challa/Black Panther) from colon cancer in 2020 after a private battle with the disease for over four years. Director Ryan Coogler spoke to Deadline about Boseman and said, “He was a giant of a man, the screen couldn’t contain him. To watch his movies is only to know a piece of him. We felt so fortunate to know the whole guy and we try and honor him on this one.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases in theaters on November 11 with a runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes, the sequel will be the second-longest title in the MCU behind Avengers: Endgame. See the hottest looks of the world premiere ranked below:
