Strong beautiful women come in all different shapes and sizes and we are all unique in our very own beautiful way. Yes, our stories are all different but we have all been judged the same. You know the days you cried in the shower and then put some makeup on the head to work? We have all had those days. Nobody knew you had started your day that way and you won't know when other women have, so BE KIND and give grace.
Women will never get enough credit from anyone including themselves. So let's start there... Be kind to yourself because being a woman is hard. You know it; is so why make it harder? We need to give ourselves and others much more grace today, for International Women's Day, and every day.
We have to stand strong together because only WE know how hard it is.
It is so easy for people to judge a woman. Women get judged for wearing sweats every day but also get judged for getting dressed up and wearing makeup every day. Women are too skinny or they're too fat. Women get judged if they want to have a bunch of babies but also get judged if they choose not to have kids. How about if you do have kids? You're getting judged if you stay home with your kids but also judged if you go back to work. The list can go on and on for days.
So today and every day give yourself and others love. Support and pick each other up. Share your stories and listen to others. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful strong group of women in my family and friends. We check in multiple times a day and make sure if someone is down it is only for a little bit before we pick them back up.
You are strong. You are capable. You are unstoppable. You are beautiful. You are resilient. You are WOMAN <3
Aimee Celebrate Nevada Reading Week At Twin Lakes Elementary
Happy Nevada Reading Week!
There's truly nothing better than reading a book with your loved ones. Some of our best memories have been made during "reading time" from our childhoods.
To celebrate this weekend that's dedicated to the art of reading, Aimee from Aimee+Shawn read to a few classes at Twin Lakes Elementary.
Aimee read a few books to kindergartners and first graders, who all loved the stories that she read. We even had a dance party to celebrate this amazing week of reading!
It was a joy to read to the amazing students at Twin Lakes, who were all so excited to have a guest reader read to them! On top of that, it was "Crazy Hair Day," so the room was filled with extra excitement.
For more than 40 years, Nevada Reading Week has been celebrated across the entire state. From book studies, book fairs and guest readers, this amazing week includes schools both rural and urban communities. It's a week that is meant to celebrate and bring together communities and students with each other.
Each Nevada Reading Week consist of a new theme. Each of the themes reflect the "spirit of the times." The crux of this week is to promote a life-long love for reading with each of the week's activities being utilized to promote the importance and excitement behind reading.
This week is meant to be a vehicle of learning for students in Nevada. Along with this, 102.7 VGS recommends to take this week to reflect on your own reading habits. And trust us, we know it can be hard to get the kids to do . . . anything. Now, imagine forcing them to read. Yeah . . . ok. BUT, we recommend making reading a FUN part of you and your child's day. Use reading as a way to connect with each other. Whether you're reading TO your child or reading together, reading is good for everyone.
We hope you celebrated Nevada Reading Week in the best way possible! So what are you waiting for? Grab a good book, curl up on the couch and let's read!
