Amanda Bynes Got Plastic Surgery on Her Eyelids
Following the recent launch of her podcast post-conservatorship, former child star Amanda Bynes is opening up about why her appearance has changed.
The All That alum, now 37, told fans on Instagram that she had plastic surgery on her eyelids. More specifically, a blepharoplasty, which is a procedure to remove excess eyelid skin. Per the Cleveland Clinic, the surgical procedure improves the appearance of your eyelids. It helps reduce the look of “tired eyes from your lower lids and removes drooping skin from your upper lids.”
In her Instagram Stories, the Hairspray actress addressed recent stories she saw written about her face appearing different. “I was never open about this before,” she said in the clip, which he added to her Highlights, showing her eyes looking noticeably rounder than they did before. She went into detail about the skinfolds and the corner of her eyes being removed. The final result has immensely boosted Bynes’ self-confidence, which she admits in the Story.
“It was one of the best things I could’ve ever done,” she said. “And it made me feel a lot better in my skin, so I just wanted to post about that just to clear up that rumor as to why I have a new look. I feel a lot better now about myself, and I’m so glad I had the blepharoplasty surgery. It was one of the greatest things I could’ve ever done.”

Bynes was under a conservatorship for nearly nine years. In 2022, a judge terminated the conservatorship, but she has been sporadically in the news for bizarre behavior, like wandering the streets of Los Angeles naked.
Over the weekend, Bynes launched a podcast with her best friend, biochemist and PhD student Paul Sieminski. According to USA Today, she and her co-host will discuss “fashion, artists, actors, actresses, music and everything else!” The duo interviewed tattoo artist Dahlia Moth, who met Bynes at a Spirit Halloween store a few years prior.
