You just got hitched - time for a romantic honeymoon. Or maybe a 'buddymoon.' It might sound a little odd, but these are apparently becoming all the rage.

A Beautiful Honeymoon With You And Your Spouse - And Your Family

A buddymoon is a little different from the traditional romantic honeymoon. Instead of just you and your new spouse heading to Niagara Falls, you invite your friends and/or family along, too.

Wedding trends have changed a lot since Mom and Dad, and Grandma and Grandpa got married. Diamond engagement rings aren't the norm anymore. Now, it's whatever stone you want. Wedding cakes? Try wedding cupcakes, or gourmet donuts. And the brides parents paying for the wedding - nope! You split that now, which seems only fair.

Buddymoon has its own hashtag on TikTok. Type in #buddymoon and you can enjoy videos from thousands of  actual buddymoons. Looks like it's been a thing for a little while now.

Why A Buddymoon?

Couple say that part of the reason behind buddymoons, is that it's a unique shared experience. Your family helped you get to where you are, after all, so why not?

I guess the big question is, would you take a buddymoon with your family and/or friends? Or maybe you already have, and you turned your honeymoon into more of a celebratory vacation. I happen to like my family, and have the most amazingly fun besties - I'd do it!

If you think about it, in this day and age, how many couples are already living together? It doesn't seem like much of a stretch to invite your friends and/or family along for the honeymoon.  I mean, since you've probably already done that.

The website More Time To Travel offers some tips, and information, for those considering a buddymoon:

  • Pick a unique destination, or resort.
  • Talk about money upfront! Know what you are splitting, or paying for separately.
  • Very important: Make sure that you - the Newlyweds - have some time apart from the others!

Happy Honey - - I mean, buddymoon!
