Rejoice, Southwest Las Vegas! New Costco Location Is Coming

Having moved to the southwest Las Vegas valley in 2006, it was pretty much a blank slate. Restaurants? Well, there was a Carl's Jr. Shopping? Yeah, sure a little bit. But not nearly as much as Summerlin and Henderson has. But patience has paid off. The southwest valley is booming and the latest evidence is clear: Costco is opening a new location there.

Yes, at long last people in Rhodes Ranch and Mountain's Edge won't roll their eyes seeing they are smack dab in the middle of the Summerlin and St. Rose locations. According to the RJ and county records, the new location would go at 215 and Buffalo, a brief 1 minute drive from Sam's Club. There'll be a gas station and there'll barely be enough parking spaces. You know, like a real Costco.

The only bummer news is while the project is expected to go forward this year, there is no particularly definite time when it will open.

In just the last few years, things have been poppin' in the southwest. Ikea set up shop. Durango Casino is finally open after years of teasing us with that sign. The Uncommons offers up some delicious dining and a cute little live-work-play environment. Well, there is more in the pipeline.

Ashley Furniture is planning a location across from Ikea at the 215/Durango curve. Life Time Fitness is, as far as we understand, still planning on opening.

Then there is The Bend. The entertainment destination is expected to open this year with everything from indoor pickleball to more delicious dining (the southwest is getting a Freed's!)  Sure, that project was supposed to feature a movie theater, but it appears as though that has fallen through.

But fear not! Durango Casino is reportedly in talks to fast track phase 2 of their property, which would include a movie theater, bowling and more.

It took a while, southwest. But your time has come. We are the next to get Kirkland's signature of approval.

An affordable Valentine's Day doesn't mean it's a bad one.

There are plenty of options in the city that won't put you in debt. But, you'll still have a great meal while enjoying your loved one's company.

Maybe you want to just go out with a friend, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Places like Carbone, Herbs & Rye, Golden Steer and other acclaimed restaurants will be packed. So opting for the "cheaper" or "budget-friendly" alternative could also save you a massive wait time. We do recommend trying to secure a reservation, but some places on this list don't allow you to even reserve a time slot.

It's true that you don't need to even leave your house in order to celebrate Valentine's Day.

You can do breakfast in bed, which is a lovely experience. You can whip up some pancakes from batter, scramble and season eggs and cook some bacon. Then after you're done cooking, you can deliver the lovely meal to your partner in bed.

Along with breakfast in bed, you can also take a hike. Since we live in Las Vegas, there are tons of great trails and views that are free. So, this could potentially be a day-time option for those that want a more relaxing Valentine's Day.

The 99 Cents Store has some adorable decorations and gifts that your partner could adore , too. You can also get some paint, buy two canvasses and host a paint date! You can visit a few museums that have discount for locals like the Burlesque Hall of Fame, Harry Mohney Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas and the Mob Museum are just to name a few.

No matter what your budget is, there is a way to celebrate your partner without blowing the bank. Check out the list below for some budget-friendly place to secure that Valentine's Day dinner.

Now you may be thinking, "pizza on Valentine's Day?" But, hear us out. Make this a date night filled with strolling the Fremont Street Experience, going downtown and checking out Container Park. Once you get hungry, check out Evel Pie to top off the night. This isn't your typical pizza joint. There's an outdoor patio near the back that sometimes has a DJ. Grab a nice warm slice of pizza and just enjoy the Vegas vibes in there. Plus, enjoying pizza with your lover is a great experience.

I just adore all you can eat sushi in Las Vegas. Basically, you pay a set price and then you can order to your heart's desire. Sushi is usually an expensive meal. But the all-you-can-eat option is a great way to eat some sushi on a pretty affordable price. My personal favorite spots in Vegas are Sushi Neko, Sea Salt Sushi & Oyster and Sakana Sushi. Plus if you add a little sake to the meal, it's basically fine dining with a more affordable bill.

Maybe you're not a big sushi fan. Well, All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ is here to save the day. It works exactly like the previous option above. You pay a set price per person and then you can order to your heart's content. It can range from around $27-$40 per person. You can order premium cuts of meat from chicken, beef, pork and seafood. Some places even have wagyu beef options. The experience of KBBQ is also super fun because you basically cook everything tableside. There's a grill built into your table that allows you to cook the meat yourself. It's a great date night, and the set price can help avoid a super hefty bill in comparison to other steakhouses.

Some of my personal recommendations include Hwaro, Captain 6 and Honey Pig.

Gäbi Coffee & Bakery isn't cheap. But, it's an affordable date if that makes sense. An iced coffee can run you about $10. Yes $10. And the pastries and cakes are expensive. However when you look at the grand scheme of things, two coffees and a piece of cake will be significantly cheaper than a meal. The ambiance of Gäbi Coffee & Bakery is beautiful, too. The inside décor is so romantic and perfect for a date night. You can share some coffee, a pot of tea and beautiful pastries or light bites. I loved this place as a date night spot. Plus, it's in a fun part of town where there is a plethora of other activities to partake in.

Quaint, cute and comforting. Zen Curry House is an affordable date night spot that'll fill your belly up with some delicious Japanese-style curry. The curry ranges from $7 - $12 as a base price. The price increases based on the size bowl you get, what protein you chose and what toppings you add.
