Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up for a new Rom-Com it made me think to myself. Are Rom-Coms a blockbuster of the past? I haven’t seen a really good Rom-Com in a long time. Though I hope this one changes that for us.
“You’re Cordially Invited.” Will be streaming on Amazon. Will and Reese’s characters in the film will take on the roles of two families sharing a destination wedding venue. Trouble ensues – Classic romantic comedy.
Rom-coms have been a go-to movie genre for many of us for as long as we can remember. While it’s true that some of these films have become a bit formulaic over the years, there’s still a comforting element to them that keeps us coming back for more. Perhaps it’s the promise of a happy ending or the chance to see two characters fall in love despite their differences. Whatever the reason, there’s something about a good rom-com that just makes us feel good.
So, are good rom-coms a thing of the past? I don’t want it to be true. While it’s true that the genre has had its highs and lows over the years, we’re optimistic that “You’re Cordially Invited” will be one of the good ones. With a talented cast, a promising premise, and a team of filmmakers who know how to mine humor and heart from a story, this is an upcoming release that we can’t wait to see.
So If you’re a fan of rom-coms, then “You’re Cordially Invited” should be one we will love… on paper anyways. I want to get cozy on my couch, grab some popcorn and wine and laugh and cry to a good romantic comedy. While we wait for its release, let’s take a look at the top 10 romantic comedies of all time.
