First Vegas Knight Hawks Game A High-Flying Good Time
When I walked into the Dollar Loan Center to see my first Vegas Knight Hawks game, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. After all, I am not the biggest football fan (except for last year’s NFL playoffs when I went all in on the Chiefs for obvious reasons).
Plus, football is either played outdoors or in a massive stadium, not a minor league hockey arena. While I walked in clueless, I walked out wanting to see more. A lot more.
It can be easy to forget the Vegas Knight Hawks exist. Between the Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, Las Vegas Aces, Henderson Silver Knights, Las Vegas Aviators, Las Vegas Desert Dogs and on and on, the sports world in the valley has certainly become crowded. But one taste of a grown man getting laid out against converted hockey boards and you’ll be hooked.
Vegas Knight Hawks Bring Football Action In Hockey Arena
Unlike your normal 100 yard football field, the Indoor Football League (IFL) plays within the bounds of a regulation hockey rink. The middle of the field is the 25, not the 50. There is no “out of bounds” outside of the actual seats. And in the seats you’ll find players fly.
It’s actually pretty incredible! If a bone-crunching tackle isn’t being made against the boards, you’ll see players go heels over head getting pushed out of bounds.
The Vegas Knight Hawks, owned by Bill Foley and the Foley Entertainment Group, which also owns the Golden Knights, bring all the entertainment flare of a VGK game.
Hearing a “ka-kaw” out of nowhere, fans getting out of their seats doing their “Angels In The Outfield” impressions, Risk the mascot was everywhere. It was an all-encompassing experience.
Best part of all, it was dirt cheap to go. They are selling flex plan tickets where you get to essentially pick your games for the season for as low as $18 each. Plus if you are signed up for Pogo Seats, you might be able to get into your first game even cheaper.
If you are looking for a fun “knight” out with the fam, look no further than the DLC to see the VKH play in the IFL. I absolutely loved it. (Also didn’t hurt that we won!)
