F1 Las Vegas Lawsuit Filed By Battista’s, Stage Door Casino
Watching rich people race is a lot of fun on paper, but in reality it has cost several businesses a collective untold millions in road closures and detours severely affecting their business. There has already been an F1 Las Vegas lawsuit filed by Ellis Island Casino, with Clark County also named as a defendant. Now two other businesses along the F1 Las Vegas route are getting ready for their day in court.
Italian restaurant Battista’s Hole In The Wall at Flamingo Road and Linq Lane and their sister property Stage Door Casino have filed an F1 Las Vegas lawsuit aimed at both the race and Clark County Monday in Clark County District Court. In a statement to the media, a spokesperson for the businesses said they were left with no other choice.
“These small business owners brought their substantial damages and the existential threat caused by F1 to their businesses to the attention of Clark County and F1,” spokesperson Lisa Mayo-DeRiso said. “For months they sought a fair and just solution to this devastating issue, however, to no avail.” “They have no choice but to ask an impartial third party to remedy their financial losses and to prevent their businesses from going under because of F1.”
The F1 Las Vegas Lawsuit Eyes Clark County’s Complicity
According to the lawsuit, laid out by LVSportsBiz, they claim that Clark County specifically fast-tracked the permitting process for the race, by way of not requiring a “special use permit”. Shutting down and rerouting several roads would be kind of special, no?
They went on to say that Clark County didn’t even consider how the event would affect businesses and give them a seat at the table.
Sure, big casinos seemed to have made a killing in 2023 (although this year’s booking seem to have slowed compared to last year). But smaller businesses got the absolute shaft. Let’s see what happens. All we know is the Ellis Island Casino vs F1 Las Vegas lawsuit and still ongoing and likely won’t be resolved for a bit.
