If you enjoy the thrill of drag racing, an upcoming event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a must!
“Mayhem” street-legal drag racing has announced that it will be returning to the LVMS this year, offering a safe and legal opportunity for thrill seekers and drag-enthusiasts to enjoy the art and sport of drag racing.
According to Fox 5, the “Summit Racing Equipment Mayhem Street-Legal Drags at The Strip at LVMS” experience allows drivers to “race each other on the safer confines of its NHRA-sanctioned, quarter-mile drag strip.”
When is "Mayhem" taking place?
According to the calendar of events, the first "Mayhem" street-legal drag racing event will be taking place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday, February 3rd. For those planning to compete, the competitor gates will open at 5:00 p.m., and the actual drag racing will commence at 6:00 p.m. and go until midnight.
The street-legal drag racing events will continue throughout 2023. To check out this year's full schedule of events, click here.
What kind of vehicles are allowed?
"Mayhem" is open to all licensed and registered street-legal vehicles, and all participants must drive their own vehicles down to the track. While all vehicles must be street-legal, it's important to note that all tires on said vehicles must also be street-legal treaded tires.
How much does the event cost?
Depending on whether you're looking to take part in the action and physically participate in the drag racing or just simply spectate, the cost varies, but the fees are reasonable across the board. However, the ticket office will close at 10:30 p.m. during all "Mayhem" events, so be sure to snatch your tickets beforehand.
Prices for the event are as follows:
- Car and driver (tech card): $20
- Ride-along passenger: $15
- Car show vehicle/pit area parking pass: $15
- Spectator: $5

Las Vegas On The List Of Cheapest Travel Destinations
Well, it's shaping up to be a pretty big year in Las Vegas for visitors from outside of the state. People are coming to our neighborhood for all kinds of reasons. Brand new gaming venues are opening. Music festivals are happening throughout the year. Sporting events are becoming more and more plentiful. And now there's another reason for tourists to put Sin City on their list of places to see. Many travel websites, like Kayak, just released a list of the cheapest places to travel to in 2023. And Las Vegas is on it.
Kayak made the list based on a variety of factors. First was who had the cheapest flights. We know specials are offered all the time on flights to Vegas. Especially these smaller airlines like Frontier, Allegiant and Spirit. I've flown from Vegas to California, Washington, Utah and Montana for very low fares.
The second factor Kayak considered was the price of hotels. Again, we have specials all the time in Las Vegas. And with rewards programs at our casinos, there's a lot of money to be saved on lodging here. Add in our time shares and AirBnbs and you've got a lot of the cheapest options for visitors coming here.
The final considerations Kayak included in their list are which destinations on the web get the most searches. Also travel restrictions and security concerns in each area searched.
So where does Las Vegas land on the list of cheapest places to travel to? We took only the cities in the United States to put on our list. And, thanks to Travel and Leisure, we've gathered the average cost of flight and hotel it takes to travel to each place. Where To Get The Best Chocolate Cake In Las Vegas
You have to love the National Day Calendar. There's all kinds of holidays on there. And today we're even bigger fans. Because it's National Chocolate Cake Day! Side note: it's also National Have Fun At Work Day. So if you can find a way to have fun at work with chocolate cake, you get bonus points.
History Of Chocolate Cake
You know how when you look at old-timey photos, nobody is smiling? Those sepia-toned pics of the couple or individual portraits. Why are they so unhappy? Sure, you can say it was just the custom at the time. But, I think it's because those poor saps didn't have chocolate cake.
Chocolate was primarily consumed as a beverage until the 1830s or 1840s. The first recipe for cake made with chocolate wasn't even published until 1847, according to nationaldaycalendar.com. I know what you're thinking...how did they handle stress before this when they couldn't turn to eating their feelings in chocolate? I don't even want to know. But I can guess there were a few wagons with fist-shaped dents in them.
Why Is It So. Darn. Good?
So many reasons. It goes with any flavor of frosting. Vanilla, strawberry, cream cheese. You can't go wrong with any of them. Plus, unlike their lighter counterparts, cake of the chocolatey variety has caffeine. The darker the chocolate, the more the caffeine. Yeah, it's no wonder we're addicted.
Tips For The Best Homemade Cake
If you're planning to make a chocolate cake at home, here are a few tips. Use room temperature eggs and butter to get the best texture. Use cold coffee or espresso powder in the mix to bring out the cocoa flavor. Use dark cocoa powder and brown sugar for a richer flavor. And my favorite tip is to make a poke cake. That yields some amazing moisture and flavor.
