Las Vegas Aces At The White House To Celebrate 2023 Title
To the winner goes the spoils. While last year, the invitation for the Las Vegas Aces at The White House was quite tardy with the season already underway, this year they were able to celebrate a bit earlier.
Coach Becky Hammon and the team were honored in the United States capital to celebrate their 2023 WNBA Championship, their second in a row.
“You all started this season in the spotlight. Defending champions, the team to beat,” Vice President Kamala Harris said. “And you met that pressure with greatness. You performed with skill, with hustle and with heart.”
“It was, as we all know, Aces versus everybody.” You’re damn right it was! We all know how that competition ended, beating the New York Liberty 3 games to 1 to clinch the WNBA Championship.
Second Trip For The Las Vegas Aces At The White House Better Than The First
You may recall last year the invitation for the Las Vegas Aces at The White House was too little too late. The Aces were in the midst of their 2023 season when the Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. President Biden sent a tweet congratulating the Knights for the victory.
Aces star A’ja Wilson is no hater of the Golden Knights, but did have a bone to pick about not getting an invite to the big house after their 2022 WNBA Championship win.
Soon after, the team got their invite and arrived at the White House welcomed by Vice President Kamala Harris. President Joe Biden and his wife First Lady Jill Biden were not present after extending their vacation.
Thankfully this year went off without a hitch and before tip off for the 2025 season.
The Las Vegas Aces May Return To The White House Sooner Rather Than Later
The more things change, the more they stay the same. While there are many new stars entering the WNBA, the Las Vegas Aces are the favorite to take the league’s highest honor once again.
Aces versus everybody. Even you, Caitlin Clark.
