Weddings Where You Know It Won’t Last
If you’ve been to one wedding, you’ve been to all the weddings. Chicken, steak, fish or vegetarian? First dance. Electric Slide. But… some weddings are a little juicier than others.
This morning, Aimee+Shawn talked about weddings they’ve been to where they and others around them, for whatever reason, had a sneaky suspicion that it wouldn’t last.
Shawn talked about the multiple times he had an inkling things weren’t going to work out (he is 2-for-4 so far), and one story in particular is shocking. It was the wedding of his “first” and he was invited. The two were on good terms so he decided to go stag and support the matrimony. Meal was served, cake was cut, and then it was time for the first dance.
The new Husband and Wife are dancing in the middle of the dance floor when an arm reached around Shawn. It was the bride’s uncle. He had never met him before, but he said hi.
The sweet first song is playing, the couple sways back and forth to the music, and the uncle mutters to Shawn, “So, I heard you used to be with Michelle, eh?!”
“Oh, yeah,” as the two watched them dance.
“You dodged a bullet,” said the uncle, slapping Shawn on the back and walking away. Shawn’s face dropped and he never told anyone (until today of course).
Can you imagine having a family member talk smack about you at your wedding? It seems to happen more than anyone realizes. If you’ve witnessed it first hand, reach out to us on social and tell us about your story! We could read it on the air (and we’ll keep you anonymous if you want).
