Former Raider Henry Ruggs Will Have Blood Alcohol Test Used In Trial
FORMER RAIDER HENRY RUGGS CASE UPDATE
Defense attorneys for the former Las Vegas Raider wide receiver Henry Ruggs lost their motion to drop a blood alcohol test police gave him after his deadly crash last year. His lawyers claimed Metro didn’t have probable cause to ask for a warrant to get the test. Las Vegas judge Ann Zimmerman struck down the motion, saying there was more than enough evidence to give the search warrant at the time.
Back in November, Ruggs drove his Corvette over 150 miles an hour down South Rainbow, striking the car of 23-year-old Tina Tintor who ended up dying in the crash. Ruggs’ blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. Attorneys for the family of Tina Tintor are happy with the ruling. A preliminary hearing is set for September 7th.
1 OCTOBER MEMORIAL IS TAKING DESIGN IDEAS FROM THE PUBLIC
It took less than a week for the community to come together to build the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden in the days following 1 October. Plans to build a permanent memorial, however, have been purposefully slow. It’s all in the hopes of building a fitting permanent memorial for those lost, first responders and survivors of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting.
If you have ideas for what the design of the memorial should be, you can reach out to the 1 October Memorial Committee with drawings, digital designs and the like along with a letter explaining features of your design. Submissions will be accepted through September 30th. A final design is not expected to be chosen until later next year. The memorial will be built on two acres at the northeast corner of the festival grounds.
LIKE SWEATING? RTC AS THE (UNPAID) JOB FOR YOU!
The RTC is seeking volunteers to help them create a “heat map” of the valley, finding which areas are the biggest scorchers. They plan on using that data to address how the transportation commission can potentially keep their riders cool. It is part of a federal Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign to figure out the effect that all this concrete is having on temperatures. So if all that sweating sounds fun, reach out.
