Sphere Student Design Contest Voting Now Through June 5
We told you about the competition in March. The Sphere student design contest allowed Clark County students from elementary school through college to compete for their chance to show up on one of the most famous buildings in the world!
Well, the submissions are in, the finalists have been announced and now it is up to you to vote for which pieces should be displayed on the “Exosphere”.
Sphere Student Design Contest Will Feature Pieces From All Ages
The “Sphere XO Student Design Challenge” is putting the incredible Sphere exosphere screen in the hands of talented student artists with incredible ideas. The screen that is clad around the multi billion dollar venue is the largest video screen in the world. To put it in perspective, Resorts World has the second largest in the world. The Sphere’s exosphere is larger by a factor of over three. Yeah, a big deal.
120 finalists have been chosen, and the public has half the vote! Half of the winners will be determined by the public vote, while the other half will be selected by Exosphere artists Refik Anadol and Michela Picchi. In total, two students from elementary, middle and high school as well as UNLV will be chosen. That is eight pieces in total on display for everyone across the valley to gaze at!
Best of all, there’s cash in it for the winners too! High school and UNLV winners will get a $10,000 scholarship. Elementary and middle school competitors will win $10,000 for their particular school’s art program. Plus they’ll get to send their entire school to The Sphere Experience!
You have until Wednesday, June 5th to vote and have your voice be heard in the Sphere student design contest. The world’s biggest canvas is awaiting our valley kids’ creativity. We’ll see who makes the cut!
