Lotus Of Siam At Red Rock Looks Incredible! (PICTURES)
Here in Las Vegas, we are incredibly fortunate to get to taste several incredible flavors with our embarrassment of culinary riches. One restaurant, however, always finds itself among the best in the nation: Lotus of Siam.
The Thai restaurant had humble beginnings inside of Commercial Center on East Sahara. The outside of the building is nothing to look at, but James Beard Award Winning Chef Saipin Chutima and her husband took over towards the end of the millennium and made the culinary world take notice. The food is undeniably incredible, focusing on Northern Thai cuisine to Las Vegas and visitors from around the world.
Speaking of “around the world,” a man who had seen every corner of it is Anthony Bourdain. When he got a taste, he said it perfectly: “that’s perfection man”.
What the hole-in-the-wall lacked in ambiance it more than made up with in flavor. The location was popping up until 2017, when the roof literally caved in on the restaurant. Extensive flooding, the restaurant was practically a total loss. They needed to gut their Sahara and Maryland Parkway location and rebuild.
A restaurant this important in the community could not be gone for long, and the family made sure of it. They opened a new location on East Flamingo in the former Roy’s place only a few months later. They kept their several employees employed, all while continuing to work on fixing up their original hole-in-the-wall location. Fans were thrilled.
From humble beginnings to impressive new beginnings…
Five years later… Lotus Of Siam finds a third home, and this one is the most impressive yet. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the grand opening celebration of their incredible Red Rock Casino Resort And Spa location and when I tell you the place will make your jaw drop, it’s an understatement.
Having eaten at the original location and been thoroughly impressed with the food, to see them go from their original no-frills location to this made me beam with pride – and I’ve never met the family. I’m just so happy for them. The restaurant lives up to the food.
Everywhere you turn, the restaurant has features that will impress you. The outside as you enter Red Rock looks absolutely incredible with a peaceful, Zen-like garden. Then you approach the restaurant’s amazingly opulent wooden door, and you are transported. You almost feel like you are bringing the outside in with you. Lanterns fill the sky, bamboo lattice walls and leaves all around. It’s outstanding.
If you’ve had the food of Lotus of Siam, you know what the food is about. If you haven’t and you are down for a culinary adventure, this is a must go. Leave your “Pad Thai” order at the door, try something new and experience some of the best cuisine the country has to offer.
