Liberace Got His ‘Way’: Clark County Naming Road After Legend
He was one of the highest paid performers of his time and a staple in the Las Vegas entertainment scene. Now “Mr. Showmanship”, Liberace, is finally getting the honor of a road named after him.
The Clark County Commission voted unanimously to rename a portion of Karen Avenue to “Liberace Way“. The road goes along the northern border of the Las Vegas Country Club, from Joe W Brown Drive to Maryland Parkway… and maybe even further.

They’ll be tackling the change in two chunks. First renaming Karen Ave from the original Joe Brown Drive to Maryland Parkway. But a second phase could possibly change a portion of Karen from Joe W Brown Drive to Paradise Road. That would change the address of the Turnberry Towers, so that will be revisited in the future.
It was well deserved… and well overdue…
As we told you earlier this week, the change is absolutely well deserved. Liberace started performing in Las Vegas as early as the mid 1940s and signed a long term – and big money – contract to perform at the Riviera and later the Las Vegas Hilton. Many of his fellow Las Vegas performers have been given the honor, including Frank Sinatra Drive, Dean Martin Drive, Elvis Presley Boulevard, Sammy Davis Junior Drive and Wayne Newton Boulevard.
Liberace passed away after a bout with pneumonia brought on by AIDS 35 years ago, but his legacy lives on.
The Historic Liberace Museum is closed but for many years displayed an array of his pianos and flashy wardrobe. There’s a push to reopen that location. The Neon Museum honored a part of their “Brilliant!” projection-mapping show to the icon, with his sign in lights.
We are happy to see an important member of the valley’s storied history getting honored!
