Celebrate National Margarita Day With Aimee’s Margarita
Hey there, margarita enthusiasts! Guess what day it is? It’s time to shake, stir, and sip because it’s National Margarita Day! And where better to celebrate this zesty occasion than here in Las Vegas, where the drinks are as big as the dreams!
Picture this: You’re strolling down the Strip, (or let’s face it, through your house because we are locals, we don’t go down there but for the sake of the story) neon lights everywhere around you, the air smells like boos and excitement. And what’s that in the hands of the giant drunk Elmo? It’s a giant margarita shaped like a guitar! That’s right, in Vegas, we don’t just drink margaritas, we drink giant margs.
Tell the truth – Have you ever ordered one of those?
Celebrating National Margarita Day in February seems a little weird because normally I drink margaritas at the pool with sunshine but let’s be honest – is there really a bad time for a margarita? From classic lime margaritas to exotic fruit concoctions, the options are really endless when it comes to the special cocktail that is a marg. P.S. Don’t forget to pair your margarita with some bomb Mexican food for the ultimate flavor explosion. Tacos, nachos, quesadillas get it all. Treat yo self.
Of course, no National Margarita Day celebration would be complete without a toast to the humble margarita itself. So here’s to never above you, never below you, just right here with you! (I saw that cheers on Love is Blind)
I was a bartender for 10 years here in Las Vegas and I would like to think I made a pretty damn marg – This is how I made my favorite classic margarita –
ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz of your favorite silver tequila
- 1 oz of Cointreau (it’s an orange liqueur)
- 1/2 fresh squeezed lime
- Splash of simple syrup
- Salt for rim
- Ice
directions:
Salt the rim of a glass, add ice to a shaker, add all ingredients, to the shaker, shake shake shake, and strain into a glass of fresh ice. If you don’t have a shaker you can just pour it all into the glass of ice and stir instead.
