Henderson Holding Parade For Little League Legends
Let’s hear it for the boys! The Henderson All-Stars made history as the second-ever team to make it to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. To make it to the dance was a huge accomplishment. To fight back in the face of adversity was even more impressive. Now the city is planning a hero’s welcome.
The City Of Henderson announced that they are holding a Henderson Little League Parade and Party on Saturday, September 9th to celebrate the Mountain Region champions!
The parade gets underway at 10am at the team’s home field, Mission Hills Park. It will continue north on College Drive, then west onto East Horizon Drive, and north onto Pacific Avenue before turning onto Water Street and culminating into a party for the players at 10:30am!
Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero will be there for a proclamation presentation! Plus there’ll be music, food and more! For a full preview of the route on Google Maps, click here.
How did Henderson make their way to the Little League World Series?
It was a long tourney for the Henderson Little League 12U All-Stars! First, they needed to win the state of Nevada. That, in its own right, is a challenge! They took on Peccole and won 10-0!
They got a chance to represent the Silver State in the Little League Baseball Mountain Region Tournament in San Bernardino where they ran the table! Beating Montana in the opening game 6-1, Utah in the next game 6-3 and having a rematch with Utah in the Championship and blanking them by a familiar score: 10-0!
From there it was on to the big show! The Little League World Series in Williamsport! It is where many little leaguers dream of playing one day, and they got their shot as the Mountain Region Champs!
It was a tough go in game 1, falling to the Metro Region 3-1 despite an incredible pitchers duel. The LLWS is a double elimination tournament and the pressure was on, but they battled back! They won a dominant game 2 against the Great Lakes Region, 13-2. They moved on to a game against the Midwest Region champs and won that one 7-1! Unfortunately game 4 is where they met their end, with another tight game. This time against the Southeast Region champs, falling by a final score of 2-1.
The Southeast went on to lose to the West Region Champs who went on to win the whole thing! Congrats to them!
End of the day, this was an amazing adventure for these boys and their coaches and families. Make your way to Henderson and congratulate them for a job well done!
