Could This Be A Look At The Las Vegas To SoCal Train Experience?
It has been a mirage in the desert for what feels like forever. The train route from Las Vegas to SoCal (Rancho Cucamonga to be exact) has been talked about for ages but it never seems to come to fruition. That is until recently, when the wheels started turning on the project. Funding seems to be coming in, hurdles are being cleared, and the project is hoped to be finished by 2027.
But what will it look like?
For a preview of the Las Vegas to SoCal train, look to Florida
For people that haven’t had a “modern” train experience, the thought of hitching a ride on the rail might seem goofy. But if it is anything like Brightline has done between Miami and Orlando, it might be a really appealing option.
The route which opened last month offers passengers a relatively speedy 3 hour trip between Orlando and Miami. That’s 235 miles that that you didn’t have to drive, all starting around $79 for adults and $39 for kids. Is it cheaper than driving if more than one person is traveling? No. But is it more convenient? Well, sorta if you hate driving.
As you’ll see in the video, the train stations are welcoming and inviting, with food and drink options to enjoy while you wait. This is not a dingy Amtrak station.
Once you get onto the train, it’s a pretty nice situation! Beautiful and new with “smart” and “premium” cabin options with plenty of room for luggage. No TSA required which makes the boarding process a breeze.
Brightline is the company behind the company behind Las Vegas’ planned rail, dubbed “Brightline West“. The line from Las Vegas (I-15 and Blue Diamond) to Rancho Cucamonga runs about 218 miles with the total run taking just over 2 hours! Not bad! Once you arrive, you’ll be able to connect to Metrolink to go straight to downtown Los Angeles. Plus there are stops planned for Victor Valley and Hesperia as well.
If this is what we have to look forward to, count us in.
