Why Lisa Simpson is the Best Character on ‘The Simpsons’
Yeardley Smith, who celebrates a birthday today (July 3) has earned many roles in various TV and film projects, but she’ll be forever known as the voice of Lisa Simpson on The Simpsons.
It’s easy to understand the popularity of Homer and Bart (especially taking into account their catchphrases), but Lisa deserves her due. In the town of Springfield, an 8-year-old girl is essentially their moral compass and their de facto social justice warrior before that lightning rod term was invented.
She’s complex.
She’s intelligent.
She’s dealt with crippling anxiety on more than one occasion.
She’s struggled with breaking up with someone only to humiliate them. (AKA: The infamous “I Love Lisa” Valentine’s Day episode.)
Honestly, she the most human and relatable character on the show.
And if you disagree, watch the video below of some of Lisa’s best plotlines.
