Beware! Summerlin Parkway Drivers Affected By Weekend Ramp Closure
It was the great poet Beyoncé that once told us “to the left, to the left”. Turns out she was wise beyond her years. Drivers will be faced with a confusing ramp closure, causing confusion on US 95 Northbound and Summerlin Parkway.
From Friday, April 28th at 8pm until 5am on Sunday, April 30th, the off-ramp from US 95 Northbound to Summerlin Parkway will be closed. The Nevada Department of Transportation is underway on a project that will modernize Summerlin Parkway with signals, LED lights, new signs and pavement among other things. That’s expected to last throughout the summer. Thankfully, the closure is just for the weekend.
How am I supposed to get to get from US 95 Northbound to Summerlin Parkway this weekend?
It won’t be impossible to get from US 95 Northbound to Summerlin Parkway, thanks to our friend the “HOV lane flyover“. The HOV lane has benefitted from their own way onto Summerlin Parkway for a while. Thanks to the latest changes to the HOV lane policy in Nevada, you’ll be free and clear to drive on the left and take that lane to get where you’re going. Remembering to stay to the left and catch the exit – and not cross six lanes of traffic – will be the toughest part.
While NDOT is stating the closure won’t affect accessibility to the parkway, confusion will likely reign supreme this weekend. So pack a little extra patience around the curve and remember what Beyoncé taught us all those years ago. Or, you know, pass the flyover entirely and catch the next exit. Whatever suits you! Just don’t say we didn’t warn you because we most certainly did!
