Lauren Daigle Talks RVs, Snacking To Salvation And American Idol
Lauren Daigle, whose new single “Thank God I Do” is playing on 102.7 VGS, was asked by Aimee+Shawn in a recent interview about how she found her faith. With one answer you’ll fall in love with her personality.
“It was food!” Turns out it was her envy of everyone else at Church getting the blood and body of Christ that made her begin her journey. The answer was so honest and adorable, you have to laugh.
Her smile and energy are infectious, her music is outstanding and her realness is refreshing. She is one of those artists you want to root for.
Lauren Daigle on American Idol
In 2010, Lauren tried out for American Idol and made it far along in the audition process but got the axe just before the final 24 contestants. “I remember making it through the first round. There were 10,000 people in that first round and I was shook,” Lauren said, still surprised by the moment. “I got 7 rounds into it and I remember thinking ‘this is the beginning of something’.”
Lauren dusted herself off and returned to the show in 2012. This time she made it to the first Las Vegas round where she was inevitably cut. She looked at Simon Cowell and said “I’m giving you the moment to be mean to me! Tell me why I’m getting kicked off!” Lauren, in her best Simon voice, said “Oh, just come back next year.” Despite her pleas for a real critique, it ended up being casting, and not talent, that led to her early exit.
But by that point the singer realized that was, in fact, just the beginning of her something. Now with multiple Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards and Dove Awards to her name, her talent is undeniable.
Lauren Daigle on RVs
Lauren is currently on tour (sadly no stops in Las Vegas) and riding around in a sick RV. But it’s not hers. “These are like two or three million dollar buses. That is why you rent a bus for a tour and you call it a day,” Lauren said, with an RV behind her that looks better than your current house.
Lauren’s new “The Full Self-Titled Album”, featuring Volume 1 and 2 of her latest efforts, is available on September 8th.
