Mental Health In Nevada Ranks Worse Than Any Other State
Maybe it’s the California drivers on the 215. Maybe it’s having to pay for parking at all of the resorts where we used to not have to pay a dime. Maybe it’s just a coincidental plummet in prioritization of mental health in the workplace. Regardless, the results are in for Nevada, and they aren’t looking good. A new study has revealed that mental health in Nevada has ranked as the absolute worst among all the states. Sigh.
Report: Mental Health Across US
A report by Universal Drugstore has been released showcasing the best and worst states for mental health in the United States. The findings? Unbelievable… Or completely believable if you have fallen victim to the limited resources offered for mental health in Nevada. What factors did the report dive into to determine the best and worst states?
According to the report, researchers “looked at the prevalence of mental health issues, the use of prescription medication to treat those illnesses, and treatment rates for each US state.” They also “looked at the proportion of youths experiencing mental health struggles, the number of psychologists, the number of beds available at mental health facilities, and the proportion of adults who couldn’t afford treatment for each state.”
Mental Health In Nevada Ranks Last
What did the report find? Well, mental health in the state of Montana ranked first, with a Mental Health Score of 8.06 out of 10. Very impressive! All of a sudden, I find myself contemplating a move to Montana. Of course, the report also revealed that mental health in Nevada ranked dead last with a total Mental Health Score of 2.06 out of 10. Whomp whomp.
Ultimately, Nevada needs to up its game when it comes to mental health resources for children and adults. Help is expensive and scarce, and Nevada could learn a lot from other states, such as Montana or literally any other state that ranked above ours in this report (which is all of them). Do better, Nevada.
