BLM Land Sale In Las Vegas Will Expand Development
You might drive around and wonder “huh, why isn’t anything being built over there,” or “why don’t they just keep building out into the desert?” Often that land is owned not by the state but by the feds, namely the Bureau Of Land Management. Well, soon a BLM land sale in Las Vegas and surrounding areas will expand the bounds of the valley.
11 parcels of public land amounting to nearly 90 acres will be up for grabs in the BLM land sale, which is set for March 18th, 2025.
Where Will The BLM Land Sale Be, And What Will They Be Used For?
The land will be in the south and southwest valley, the northwest valley in the Centennial Hills area, and a couple sites in Henderson.
- Northwest Valley
- Oso Blanco Road and Moccasin Road
- West Centennial Parkway and Michelli Crest Way near elbow of 215 Beltway
- North Hualapai Way and Azure Drive near elbow of 215 Beltway
- North Fort Apache Drive and West La Madre Way near Lone Mountain
- Southwest Valley
- Blue Diamond Road west of South Grand Canyon Drive
- Blue Diamond Road and South Torrey Pines Drive
- South Buffalo Road and West Cougar Avenue
- South Rainbow Boulevard and West Silverado Boulevard
- South Valley
- South Las Vegas Boulevard and West Roban Avenue (near Dig This attraction)
- South Las Vegas Boulevard and West Roban Avenue (near Dig This attraction)
- Henderson
- Burkholder Boulevard and South Racetrack Road
- Burkholder Boulevard and South Magic Way
According to 8 News Now, some of the sites will be selling off for as little as $100 per acre in order to facilitate affordable housing projects in those areas, housing that according to many is desperately needed.
Much of the money raised goes towards the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act. That acts as a fund to help build and improve parks, trails and more. It has been responsible for a lot of past and future development in the valley.
So the valley is growing and improving all at the same time.
