This Las Vegas 7-Year-Old Is Smarter Than You
Chances are in your day to day life, you stumble across many people who aren’t very bright. But it’s very unlikely you’ll come across many people as smart as 7-year-old Manolo Coppola. Sure, a lot of 2nd graders think they are brilliant, but Manolo actually is. He was just accepted into a highly elite club of intelligent people: Mensa.
Mensa is a high IQ society that aims to provide a forum for intellectual exchange among its members. It is open to anyone who scores in the top 2% of any recognized, standardized intelligence test. Its only purpose is to encourage social and intellectual interaction among its members. To become a member, individuals must take a standardized intelligence test and score in the top 2% in order to qualify.
The “average” IQ is around 100. But according to Fox 5 Vegas, Manolo actually tested at 158. That’s beyond smart.

Sure, there are thousands in the organization, but not many kids. His parents thought he had a knack for knowledge as young as 2 years old when he was handed a book and he began reading it on his own. At 2. Seriously!
There is further testing that Manolo would need to take when he hits 14, the minimum age for Mensa’s standardized test. At which point you take the intelligence test in front of a Mensa volunteer, and include proof of other supervised tests you have taken including the SATs. Sorry, your Facebook “how smart are you” quiz not only doesn’t count, it should count against you.
The boy says he hopes to enter the world of science as either an astronaut or physicist. At this rate, he might be reaching the stars in a few weeks!
