Blood Drives Happening To Honor 1 October
The tragedy of 1 October has brought our community together in ways we would have never imagined.
This historical and traumatic event has created a hauntingly beautiful tradition in our city: Annual Blood Drives.
These annual blood drives are held across the city. During the most tense moments of the shooting, the community of Las Vegas got together to donate blood. It’s a simple task that saves lives. In that instance, it saved countless.
Since the tragic event that unfolded seven years ago, our community has organized annual blood drives to remember and give back on 1 October.
Here is a list of blood drives happening throughout this week. We are always Vegas Strong.
1 October Memorial Blood Drive by the Vegas Golden Knights, Vitalant and Downtown Summerlin®
This blood drive will happen on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City National Arena. There will be bloodmobiles, and appointments are recommended. This is one of the most popular blood drives, so expect to wait if you don’t have an appointment. All donors are required to park in the Las Vegas Ballpark lot.
“The donors who gave blood in the days just prior to 1 October saved lives. Those who donated to replace that blood did the same. In this beautiful show of humanity we are able to keep the cycle going so that we may keep our loved ones alive and improve their well-being,” Vitalant said on the website.
UMC 1 October Memorial Blood Drive
The UMC blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 2, according to an event listing.
Use the sponsor code “UMCLV” at donors.vitalant.org to set up your appointment and complete a health history questionnaire.
We also want to take this time to remind people that donating blood is an everyday need. By donating blood, you can ensure to save a life. To donate blood throughout the year, check out Vitalant’s website for appointments and future blood drives.
