Message In A Bottle Found After 27 Years
A woman wearing a protective mask takes a photo of the flowers in Saint Nicholas Park in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan on April 07, 2021 in New York City. After undergoing various shutdown orders for the past 12 months the city is currently in phase 4 of its reopening plan, allowing for the reopening of low-risk outdoor activities, movie and television productions, indoor dining as well as the opening of movie theaters, all with capacity restrictions.
Members of the Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission in Texas came across a neat surprise as they were cleaning up more than 400 pounds of trash at Highland Bayou Park. During their Coffee & Cleanup event, the group found a bottle with a peculiar note inside and a message that dates back a whopping 27 years.
Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission member, Terry Pettijohn, told KRIV-TV, “I’m walking along the shore there, and I saw the bottle. It was buried about halfway. I said, ‘You know, I think we’ve got a note in the bottle.'”
The cardboard note within the bottle read “If you find this please call.” With two phone numbers listed and four signatures underneath, the note concluded, “If not home, leave it on answer machine. Please leave #.” Almost immediately, the group started calling the phone numbers listed, but both phone numbers were no longer in-service. Thank goodness for the internet and social media; one of the four individuals that had signed the note had a Facebook profile.
KRIV-TV reported the shock that Brian Standefer experienced when he received word that his note in the bottle had been found after so many years. “I had to do a double take on the piece of cardboard,” said Standefer. “[I thought] that’s my phone number. That’s my handwriting. That’s my signature.”
Standefer recalls a handful of details from the moment he and his pals put the message in the bottle approximately 27 years ago. He believes he and his three friends wrote the note in 1995 when he was just 10 years old. The friend group dropped the bottle approximately two miles from where the Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission came across the bottle at Highland Bayou Park.
One of the four signatures passed away nearly a year-and-a-half ago, and Standefer feels that the discovery of the bottle was no coincidence. “This gives me goosebumps. He had something to do with it, shining down, saying everything is going to be okay.”

The 9 Best Little Debbie Snack Cakes
Little Debbie has released a wide range of baked goods since the brand was born in 1960. Their products range from brownies, cookies, and cakes to pastries, snack bars, and pies. With so much variation in their line up, it’s difficult to pick a favorite. But that’s the beauty of their wide range of goodies; there’s a snack cake for everyone!
The nostalgia behind Little Debbie snack cakes spans across generations, as several of their most popular treats have stood the test of time. Nutty Buddys have found their way into lunchboxes since the product released in 1964. Kids today are still enjoying the delicious wafer bars nearly 60 years later. Many of the company’s original products can still be purchased today, and these products have remained public favorites throughout the years. Swiss Rolls, Zebra Cakes, Raisin Creme Pies, and Oatmeal Creme Pies all made their debut as the company got its start in the 1960s.
The 1970s marked huge growth for the treat chain as Little Debbie further expanded their product line. Over the course of the decade, the world was introduced to Star Crunch, Fudge Rounds, Devil Squares, and Peanut Butter Crunch. All of these snacks can still be found in stores, and all of these snacks are delicious.
The company celebrated its 25th anniversary in the 1980s and also released one of its most iconic cakes. Christmas Tree Cakes hit shelves in 1985, and the tree-shaped delights have been a staple of the holidays ever since. Additional releases included Donut Sticks (originally introduced as Dunk’em Sticks), Fig Bars, Chocolate Chip Cakes, and Fancy Cakes.
Since the 1990s, Little Debbie has pushed out a plethora of iconic treats. These have included Pecan Spinwheels, Honey Buns, Cosmic Brownies, Mini Muffins, and Unicorn Cakes!
The affordability, convenience, and delicious taste of Little Debbie’s snack cakes has made the company a household name. See the top nine Little Debbie snack cakes:
