Will Coffee Shampoo Give You Long Locks And A Morning Wake-Up
Ah, the things we do for beauty! Avacado face masks, toothpaste on pimples, we have tried all the hacks. Some I am willing to try others – not so much, but this one I am going to give it a try. I haven’t heard of this one before but according to Dr. Janine Bowring, adding a teaspoon of ground coffee to your shampoo can help hair growth for both men and women dealing with hair loss. I guess it’s safe to say now that coffee really is life, even for our hair.
Great excuse to take my coffee obsession to the next level. I mean think about a beauty trend that wakes you up in the morning and helps your hair grow. I bet it makes the shower smell amazing! Who wouldn’t want to be greeted by the smell of coffee first thing in the morning? It’s my favorite thing. It’s practically like getting a double dose of energy one for your soul, and the other for your scalp.
But why does it work? Well, according to Dr. Bowring, massaging coffee-infused shampoo into your scalp could stimulate your hair follicles. The caffeine is thought to increase circulation, which could give your hair the boost it needs to grow thicker and healthier. So she’s basically saying that caffeine is like a little pep talk for your hair follicles: “Come on, you got this. Grow, grow, grow!”
Dr. Bowring does warn that using ground coffee in your shampoo might darken your hair a little over time. So if you’re a natural blonde or love your highlights, maybe think twice before dunking your head in a coffee shampoo bath. But hey it’s fall y’all, this is the time for your darker hair!
So, will I be trying this? Absolutely! I already drink enough coffee to keep an entire café afloat—why not let my hair in on the party? Besides, who knows, maybe in a month I’ll be walking around with flowing, Rapunzel-level hair. Stranger things have happened in the name of beauty, right?
For now, I’m off to add a spoonful of coffee to my shampoo bottle. Wish me luck!
