Las Vegas Raiders Break 10 Game Losing Streak, Ruin Everything
Addition by subtraction is a real thing and when the Las Vegas Raiders decided at the beginning of October to start a glorious 10 game losing streak, they did it with a dream.
Well, actually, it was more of a nightmare for the team, but for the fans watching the 2024 season circle the drain, the dream was a draft pick. The harder the Las Vegas Raiders tank, the more likely they are to pull the number 1 draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. All they have to do is keep losing. Tank. “Lose baby, lose!”
Well, they won today. That means they may have very well lost the one shot they had of winning something this season.
The Las Vegas Raiders May Have Punted On The Number 1 Draft Pick
Yes, the Las Vegas Raiders in their infinite wisdom decided that now, week 16, was the time to throw in a win for funsies, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars who are also in the process of tanking their season for a draft pick. With their 19-14 victory, the Las Vegas Raiders remain at the bottom of their division and now have slid from near the top of the fight for the #1 draft pick.
The list for the draft order is determined first by the win-loss record. Before today, the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders were tied for the stinkiest teams in the National Football League.
With the Las Vegas Raiders win today, they fall to sixth in the NFL Draft order. That is because of the second thing that determines the order: strength of schedule. There are plenty of teams that are currently 3-12 right now, but of all of them the Raiders had the hardest strength of schedule with .545. The New England Patriots have the same record, but with a strength of schedule at .463, which means they suck even against bad competition.
Obviously some will say it is a loser mentality to root for your team to lose. But if your team is going to lose, why not be the best losers you can be?
Unfortunately the Las Vegas Raiders decided, with nothing else left to play for but pride, to go for the dub. Brutal.
