Red Rock Canyon Rescue Saves 2 On Christmas Morning
Some people are different than others. Some get up on Christmas morning and brew a cup on their Keurig before waking up the kiddos and then rushing down the stairs, then watch some football. Others decide to go climbing a rock. Different strokes for different folks, two of which were the beneficiaries of a Red Rock Canyon rescue on Christmas morning.
It happened on Wednesday on the Pine Creek Trail. The trail itself poses no significant challenge to hikers. It is described by the Southern Nevada Conservancy as an easy to moderate 2.4 mile trail that offers some of the best views of “beautiful and diverse plant communities nestled at the bottom of monolithic canyon walls” with a pine forest to boot.
Only issue was these two were not hikers. They were climbers.
Red Rock Canyon Rescue Saves The Day
According to Fox 5, the climbers were out on Christmas Eve when the weather got a little dicey. Thankfully they were able to take cover from the inclement weather. Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue knew they were there but the weather was even too dicey for them. So, Christmas morning it was.
Once the storm passed, a helicopter came in and the Red Rock Canyon rescue was executed flawlessly. Thankfully neither of the climbers were injured and were able to return to their families unscathed.
