Las Vegas Arts District Theater Ransacked At Christmas
There is a lot more good than evil out there, but occasionally there is a Grinch out there that remind us that not everyone gets toys on Christmas day. Maybe that’s why one Las Vegas Arts District theater got burglarized around Christmas – they knew their stockings would be full of coal.
Yes, the Majestic Repertory Theatre is the latest victim of thievery in the area. Now they are scrambling to make sure their production of Cabaret goes off without a hitch because, as they say in showbiz, “the show must go on.”
What Was Stolen From Las Vegas Arts District Theater
According to an interview with 8 News Now, Majestic Repertory Theatre artistic director Troy Heard walked in on Christmas Day to find the back door open. Inside, it was a nightmare.
Around $10,000 of computer, sound and musical equipment was swiped right out from under them. That’s a huge loss to the non-profit which is a part of Table 8 Productions, Inc. The loss comes at a terrible time for the busy Las Vegas Arts District theater, which is getting ready to put on their rendition of the famous musical Cabaret beginning Thursday, January 16th.
Christmas Miracle Via GoFundMe
While this entire situation is enough to make you want to scream, we return to the premise that there is far more good than evil.
Troy decided he had no other choice but to open a GoFundMe. “I didn’t want to do an ask, but sometimes there really aren’t any other options,” Heard explained. The GoFundMe campaign had an ask of $10,000 to replace the equipment.
Well, Las Vegas came through – big!
As of the writing of this article, $11,248 have been raised! So, with three weeks left before the start of Cabaret, the Las Vegas Arts District theater will be able to get their equipment, get it hooked up, and get it ready for the spotlight! The Majestic Repertory Theatre actually turned off the Donate Now button because they reached their goal, encouraging people to buy tickets to Cabaret if they want to help.
There is far more good than evil.
