Interstate 15 Closures Return To Las Vegas
How many times have we talked about overnight Interstate 15 closures? A lot of times. Well, what is old (and infuriating and frustrating) is new once again, with new closures coming to I-15 soon.
Yes, they are installing more multi-colored digital signs that will help inform motorists when the next closure will take place are being thrown up. As you can imagine, the Nevada Department Of Transportation doesn’t want to try to install signs that weigh several tons over active traffic. So that’s where you come in… or, you know, don’t.
When Will Interstate 15 Closures Be Happening?
On Wednesday, December 4th, the southbound I-15 will be shut down from 9pm until 5am the following morning from Flamingo Road to Russell Road. Traffic will be forced off the highway and will have to fend for themselves on surface streets. It will also affect on-ramps to Interstate 15 southbound at Flamingo Road, Harmon Avenue (that weird ramp that enters from the left), and all the off-ramps between those stops (obviously, the highway will be closed).
Don’t think you are smooth sailing, northbound lanes. Those lanes will be cut to three during the installation process for the signs.
Then on Thursday, December 5th, flip the script. Interstate 15 closures will come to the northbound lanes between 9pm and 5am the following morning. The I-15 will be closed northbound from Russell Road to Tropicana Avenue. The 215 westbound ramp to the 15 Northbound ramp will be open, but it won’t access the 15. You will be able to access Russell Road and Frank Sinatra Drive.
Same goes for the southbound lanes here. They’ll be cut down to three while the sign is being installed.
We are just going to work from home and relax until they figure it all out. If they ever do.
