Carrie Underwood Finds Herself At The Center Of A Lawsuit
Carrie Underwood has been accused of copyright infringement involving a song off of her greatest hits album, “Something in the Water.”
Underwood was named in the lawsuit, along with the producer and co-writers of the song.
The lawsuit, filed by two Canadian songwriters, claims they originally pitched a song with the same title and bridge to Underwood’s team.
According to the songwriters, after giving Underwood’s team a demo of the song, they never heard back from them.
Earlier today, Carrie’s team issued a statement regarding the lawsuit. The statement was published in The Tennessean.
The statement said, “Something in the Water” was written by Carrie and her songwriters and was inspired by Carrie’s faith.
The Canadian songwriters are seeking cash compensation based on the profits Underwood has earned from the song.
