ANOTHER Roadwork Project To Take Over Downtown Las Vegas
At this point, orange traffic cones are practically the new Nevada state flower. And the momentum behind several roadwork projects in the Las Vegas area will not be slowing down anytime soon, with a new project about to commence in Downtown Las Vegas.
Get ready to fight traffic downtown for a good, long while all thanks to a new roadwork project: The Casino Center Boulevard Corridor project. The project will start affecting drivers’ commutes with lane restrictions when the project begins on Monday, April 24th. Specifically, the Casino Center Boulevard Corridor project will be implementing lane restrictions from Oakey Boulevard to Colorado Avenue, so if you typically drive this stretch, start planning your alternate routes for the foreseeable future. The project is not set to conclude until Spring 2024. Ugh.
News 3 reports that, “According to the City of Las Vegas, traffic will be limited to one-way and one lane northbound only on Casino Center between Oakey and Utah Avenue during work hours, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.”
What Exactly is Being Done?
According to News 3, construction crews will be hard at work on the many fixes and improvements planned throughout the project, including:
-
- Constructing wider sidewalks with an amenity zone and “Atomic Passage” stars decorative design
- Installing angled and parallel parking
- Reconstructing asphalt pavement and replacing pavement markings
- Installing corridor street lighting
- Installing traffic signals at three intersections
- Installing rapid pedestrian flasher system/poles
- Installing trees with an irrigation system
- Constructing ADA sidewalk ramps with curb extensions
- Installing new sewer main and manholes
- Relocating an existing water line and dry utilities
It might cause Las Vegas a headache for the better part of the year, but with so many improvements set to be made, there’s no doubt it will all be worth it in the long run!
