New Look Rio Hotel Wants To Build Bridge To Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip. It is one of the most famous roads in the entire world and home to many of the world’s largest resorts. Flamingo Road is also home to many “off-Strip” properties, including the Rio Hotel. Now the new owners of the formerly unloved property are hoping to build a bridge towards the future in the form of an actual bridge.
The Rio Hotel bridge was originally proposed in 2023 to help Las Vegas A’s fans come to their new stadium in the vast Rio parking lot. As we all know, the A’s did not choose to move to the Rio site (for better or worse). But according to 8 News Now, the pedestrian bridge is still on the books for the Rio’s future.
The Rio Hotel Bridge Would Make A Long Walk Less Long
For a lot of people, it is “stay on the Strip or bust”. While the Rio seems awfully close, it is a mere mirage considering the sheer scale of the buildings. A walk from the Rio to the Horseshoe Las Vegas, only a hop-skip down the street on Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo, takes nearly 30 minutes and would run over a mile long. Not exactly close.
His idea is to link the Rio and a new park to the back of Caesars Palace.
The goal is beyond having visitors walk over to play slots a mile away. The CEO of Rio Hotel owner Dreamscape, Eric Birnbaum, has been steadfast in saying he wants the bridge to link to a rejuvenated neighborhood. Connecting not only the Rio but surrounding properties and building a solid community and link to nearby Chinatown.
When Will The Rio Hotel Bridge Happen
That’s the rub. Right now, it is Birnbaum once again putting his vision out to the masses, but there is no concrete plan to see it through. There’s also no word as to whether Caesars would go along with it.
But we are a fan of what they’ve done with Rio so far. With the lighting changes and the new food hall, it appears as though the current owners are actually interested in owning the place. We are here for that.
