Harvey Weinstein’s Sexual Misconduct, Harassment Victims Set To Receive $19 Million Settlement
Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment and misconduct victims are set to receive a substantial payout.
As the New York Attorney General, Letitia James tweeted, the survivors will receive a settlement of $19 million. “After all the harassment, threats, and discrimination, these survivors are finally receiving some semblance of justice. I thank them for bravely sharing their stories,” she states.
She also adds that any of the women who were forced to sign confidentiality agreements will be freed from those clauses and are finally able to speak.

In a press release, Letitia James talks about what a victory the settlement is. Per People, she states, “Harvey Weinstein and the Weinstein Company failed their female employees. After all the harassment, threats and discrimination, these survivors are finally receiving some justice. For more than two years, my office has fought tirelessly in the pursuit of justice for the women whose lives were upended by Harvey Weinstein.”
She adds that the agreement is a “win for every woman who has experienced sexual harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or retaliation by her employer.”
Not everyone is thrilled with this outcome, though. People adds that attorneys of other women who have also accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct — but who are not involved in this case — are criticizing the results. They are even calling it a “complete sellout.”
Those lawyers released a statement, saying, “We are completely astounded that the Attorney General is taking a victory lap for this unfair and inequitable proposal, and on behalf of our clients, we will be vigorously objecting in court.”
