If you are a caffeine-lover, you know that feeling of happiness that comes with a hot cup of coffee (or iced in the summer time). But how much is too much? How do you make sure you’re not overdoing it? Well, now there’s an answer. Fitness Volt has added a caffeine calculator to their website so you can make sure you stay within the recommended daily dosage.
The fitness volt caffeine calculator is a simple tool that helps track your daily caffeine intake and compares it against the recommended daily intake. For adults, the recommended amount of caffeine should not exceed 400 mg per day, while teens should not consume more than 100 mg per day. The calculator will let you know if your current total exceeds these limits. I exceed the limits.
All you have to do is type in your age range (teen or adult) and any sources of caffeinated products that you have consumed that day – whether it be coffee, tea, energy drinks, or even your pre-workout. The calculator will then tell you if your current consumption is within the safe limits or above them. If it is above the safe limit, then it will suggest ways in which to reduce your consumption such as cutting back on certain caffeinated drinks or limiting yourself to only one cup per day. (which to me is crazy!)
In addition to calculating whether or not your current consumption is too high based on age range, the calculator also provides further information about each individual source of caffeine and its effects on the body. This includes information about sleep patterns and alertness levels so users can make educated decisions on when and how much they should be consuming each day for optimal health benefits.
